Harald Hårfagre

So, I'm trying and failing and trying some more at silkscreen printing. This time I'm making a mess out of reduction screen printing. So, as an image to be slobbered down on some piece of paper, I've decided to do a portrait of Harald Hårfagre (Fair hair), the first king of a unified Norway. Mostly because I'm doing a viking themed semester this time around.

So here's a sketch of the upcoming water colour painting I am doing.

Stephen Fry

I just started a new watercolour sketchbook and to make it as interesting as possible, I have got Stephen Fry to narrate it for me. Fry, of course, is a multitalented actor, comedian, novelist and tv-presenter among many other things. He's known for Blackadder, A Bit of Fry and Laurie, QI, V for Vendetta, The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug, Gadget Man, Harry Potter audiobooks and The Hitchikers Guide to the Galaxy (movie and audiobook) to name but a few. Also, he is the king of Twitter.

This is what the foreword says:
Good evening, good evening, good evening and welcome to Thomas Kirkeberg's watercolour sketchbook. I'm Stephen Fry, you humble servant in corduroy and I will be narrating this book. Unfortunately, I'm only a picture and it is highly recommended that you imagine my voice in your head while reading the notes. This will help tremendously, if you're having a rather stressful day. So, DON'T PANIC, relax and enjoy the content of this book.

A long time since I last updated. The last week has been filled with moving to a new apartment and travelling across the atlantic for a final stint at college. Anyway, here is a little drawing I did of a desert iguana.

Sunday was a busy day so no post, but here's a fully fledged illustration as a compensation. I had a leftover idea from the last "A Song of Ice and Fire" illustration I did, so I figured I'd do this one as well. It's Daenerys with her dragons.

This is part 2 of the in class assignment I posted last time. Now as a t-shirt design.

Zodiac Fringe Cover 1

Hi! Here's some more Zodiac Fringe, my comic book in the works. Here's the first cover! Quickly summed up, the comic is about treasure hunters in space. Think Indiana Jones, but in space. Sort of. Anyway, my favourite comics as a kid were Carl Barks' and Don Rosa's disney comics, Tintin, Lucky Luke etc., so I decided to fuse my two favourite things: adventure comics and sci fi. I've been experimenting a lot with how to do this comic. Though it is a sci fi, it does have a 1930-40's flare as most of adventure franchises takes place during this era, so in addition to having designs that look like this time period, I'm trying to give the illustrations themselves a vintage look. This first cover is a mixed technique where I digitally coloured an inked gouache painting. I've moved away from this technique in later illustrations, but the same style and vintage flare is still there.
Anyway, the comic is still a while away, but it is starting to materialize.

Another in class assignment where we had to draw characters based on a super hero name generator. The project was called "Name That Goon"

Zodiac Fringe

This is another update on my comic. This is the logo, and consequently, the title of it. Why the heck it is called that I shall explain further when there is more details to reveal. Anyway, I also attached the work in progress to show how I eventually arrived at the final logo.

The Dark Veil

For reasons unknown to science, these images all turned dark whnen I rotated them in Preview. Weird. Anyway, here are some quick figure drawings.
