Okay, I'm trying to ramp this blog up a bit. So I'm shooting for a Thursday and Sunday update from now on out. Wünderbar!
Today I went to see the visiting artist at your friendly neighbourhood Illustration Student Collective my school. The artist was Lora Innes, the mastermind behind The Dreamer web comic (www.thedreamercomic.com) and she was talking about how she got the foot in the door in comics, which was largely making a web comic and turn it into a successful venture. It was very inspirational and served as a little kick in the butt to start figuring out my own web comic.
I love making comics, but it is massively time consuming, so I use forever to finish one. Her techniques on streamlining the process was very helpful (it involves using going all digital and using sketchbook pro and comic life), but still I have to solve the big issue: Figuring out a concept I'd like to stick with for a lengthy period of time. I already have one in the works, however I'd like to search for a new concept that is more unique. One that sticks out. That will be quite the challenge. Expect many hours spent in the mood room looking like The Thinker. Whatever it's going to be, it'll most likely be a web comic. Judging by all the star signs, it's the future of comics. It certainly is digital. And what's more, the artist is in full controll of the franchise which is neat. The downside is that there is 432.213.231.567 other web comics out there too. I think I shall solve that by adding some awesomeness. Or just rip of Twilight, or something. Who knows.
However I have one concept lying about that has some promise. What it's about is for a future blog (if I go for it), but it involves this guy:
